Abalone is best known for the shinny inner layer of these beautiful shells. Prized for generations, these molluscs are in decline after a peak in 2008. Partly from consumption and partly from infection, the abalone species continues to decrease in shear number. Nevetheless, abalone makes the perfect medium for cufflinks. Above is a beautiful example from the famous Denison Boston line. Created with attention to detail each pair of these cufflinks is made by hand and wrapped in a beautiful silver. With no two pieces alike, these spectacular cuff links are sure to draw some looks at your next day or night function. Denison Boston is exclusive in the US to Cufflinks Depot.

As we continue our visit to Cufflinks Anatomy 101, we finally come to the functionally most important part of any pair of cufflinks..the cufflink back.

Often thought of originally as a functional necessity, many French cuff shirt manufacterers thought of ways to cover up this important and often beautiful part of any cufflink. The function of this part of the cufflinks is to secure the folds of the shirt in a manner that keeps the sleeve from slipping down. The back has become a signature of many designers. Many times, the back can be engraved with letters or the designer cufflink manufacterer creates a trademark shape and logo for the back like one of our favorites, David Donahue.
There are many different shapes that are worth mentioning. First, there is the T-back, pill back, or flip back. These titles suggest an important description of the functionality of the back. Basically, a piece of metal in the shape of a pill can turn to 90 degrees of the neck of the cufflink in order to prevent slipping out of the button holes of the French cuff shirt. Dramatic fit, but many times this is quite ugly and sort of cheapens the cufflinks considerably in look and price. second, the more regal option is the button back. A very ornate shape characterizes the back with initials and sometimes jewels like in the case of Tracey Mayer. The shape is beautiful and can make the cufflinks look even more sophisticated especially when it comes to designer cufflinks. The last form worth mentioning is the chain back portion of the cuff links. Very British in appearance, the chain back features a chain connnecting to a plate which may need to be wrapped through the cuff hole many times. Very elegant, but many American men’s fashion experts do not like the look.
now that you have reviewed all this, we know you will agree the back side is all right. Impress your friends with cufflinks terminology from your Cufflinks Superstore : Cufflinks Depot
See ya

Well, we told you that we would continue on our sojourn to understand the anatomy of a pair of cuff links. Today, we take on the topic of the famous neck or link. This part is the most critical part of the cufflink. It is usually made of steel or aluminum (but can be made of silk) and is usually solid or of one piece. One British fashion is of a chain-link connecting the cufflinks face and cufflinks back. The solid neck of link of a cufflink allows for a better and secure fit of your French Cuff sleeve. Many times the link or neck of the cufflink is curved to fit around the wrist and also prevent rotation of your cuff link. The chain link is a different matter. It is loose and may need to be wrapped through the back cufflink hole a few times to provide a proper fit. As a result, this is not so popular in the United States or Canada. Ultimately, this unseen part is the most important part of your cufflinks.
Hopefully, now you can impress your friends with your cufflinks knowledge base: a key part of men’s style
Enjoy

When we think of cuff links (cufflinks for short) we always think of the affluent and expensive price tags. That is true that higher income individuals are more likely to enjoy polo, drive a BMW and drink a martini and wear Deakin and Francis Cufflinks from England out of solid gold. However, we at Cufflinks Depot have found that an inexpensive pair of cufflinks can also help you upgrade your wardrobe. Besides creating your own personal identity, cufflinks can help you look successful and wordly. For years, many of our competitors thought that a cufflink that is truly worth its weight must cost over 150 dollars. We find that this absolutely not true. Cufflinks can be much more moderate in price and create the same effect over and over again. Although we love these Cartier Cufflinks, we know that our cufflinks which run from 50 to 100 dollars can produce the same effect in these trying times. Affordable style with our cufflinks will still let you dress for your success.

On a recent trip to Texas, the Cufflinks Depot staff and I saw a first…. Cufflinks with boots. The look took a while to get use to, but we managed to get it. There seems to be a movement in the cufflinks industry or contemporary men’s fashion towards cufflinks being worn with everyday wear. A good example is the rise of novelty cufflinks even among the most prestigious of cufflinks designers. Cufflinks are way to express your individuality as you can tell from the numerous styles available. However, when it comes to the purist, many people including GQ feel that you can’t wear cuff links with boots, jeans, or sneakers. Many feel that a minmum dress slacks ,a nice shirt, and dress shoes are a minimum. Our staff is split down the middle… I think that is just how it is meant to be as we have formal and informal design in our store for both parties. Regardless, cufflinks are a true way to express yourself in either a fun or professional manner
Till next time
