Robin Rotenier was a Paris-born designer who <\/span>founded his namesake line in 1993. \u00a0Coming from a line of designers, the world of jewelry design was a familiar place for him. Award Winning and World Renown<\/span><\/h2>\n

Rotenier got his start studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Gemological Institute of America. His work there won him several awards, including the <\/span>Mortimer C. Ritter Award<\/span><\/i>, one of the highest honors given out by the Alumni Association, making him the first jewelry designer to win that award. \u00a0In 2008 he was asked to join the inaugural group of ten “Designers of Distinction and later received a men’s wear <\/span>AGTA Spectrum Award<\/span><\/i> in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

Robin Rotenier: A Storyteller at Heart<\/span><\/h2>\n

Drawing inspiration from objects and architectural details, Rotenier crafted a story into each of his pieces. \u00a0By carving his models by hand, and finishing each piece by hand, he distinguished his work from machine-made items. \u00a0His passion for design and attention to details truly set his work apart.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Tragic End to an Industry Icon<\/span><\/h2>\n

Mere weeks before the 2014 jewelry industry trade shows, Robin Rotenier committed suicide, shocking his friends and family, and rocking the entire jewelry industry. \u00a0Many remembered his kindness and compassion, relating stories of his generosity towards others, such as the time when he gave a troupe of Girl Scouts a personal tour of his jewelry studio and let them mold and make their own sterling silver cufflinks for free (<\/span>read more here<\/b><\/a>). \u00a0However, his legacy lives on in his design house and the intricately crafted cufflinks that made him so well known. <\/span><\/p>\n
