The Hawaiian State Quarter was the last in the 50 State Program from the U.S. Mint. It features King Kamehameha I stretching out his hand toward the eight major islands that make up Hawaii. There is and expression on the coin which has the state motto, "Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka'Aina I Ka Pono" which means that the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness. It also features the year 1959 which is the date Hawaii entered the Union as the 50th State.
